Co-Owner
Every journey begins with a first step. My first step to be a hairdresser began more than 30 years ago when I started as an assistant for Toni&Guy Galleria. Before I left, a decade later, I had worn many hats: educator, assistant manager, manager, director, and platform artist. In my second decade with Toni&Guy, I became a partner and opened a salon at Baybrook Mall. During this time, I learned to become a better leader and successful entrepreneur while perfecting and growing my craft as a hairstylist. In addition to adding texturizing to my portfolio, I continued to enhance my own styling techniques. Furthermore, I educated my clients about the right products so that they could create their style at home.
The other part of my journey during this decade was to be a strong and better leader, mentor, educator, and most of all, a role model to aspiring hairdressers in my salon. I helped them reach their full potential so that they could fully contribute to our team culture. A decade ago, I relocated the salon from Baybrook Mall to Bay Colony. While exciting, the move also brought many new challenges that eventually led from partnership to franchisee. Like hairdressing, one must and always continue to evolve and challenge one’s skill set to stay current and relevant. I went from cutting hair to also coloring hair. Being able to do both sides of hairdressing allowed me to truly give my clients a total concept experience.
This final step provided me the opportunity to move from a franchisee salon to become an independent entity with co-owner, Katie Palmer. Through the last three decades, education has, is, and will always be the foundation for my passion for hairdressing.
Yet, my future is driven by the many TECHNICs that I will be using on a daily basis in my hair cutting, hair coloring, customer services, and building a great team that I called, “My Baycolony Family.”
